Resveratrol is a natural substance mostly found in red grapes and products made from these grapes (wine, juice). Our ancestors have consumed these products for thousands of years without significant issues.
A 2017 study found that resveratrol dramatically suppressed the replication of vaccinia virus (VACV), the prototypic member of poxviruses, in various cell types. Resveratrol also significantly reduced the replication of monkeypox virus, a zoonotic virus that is endemic in Western and Central Africa and causes human mortality. Tests on how Resveratrol impacts pox replication outside of cultured cells has not yet been carried out.
Resveratrol may also reduce blood clotting. It may also decrease pain and swelling, reduce levels of sugar in the blood, and help the body fight against disease.
